The Original 100mph Scooter Shootout

For 4 or 5 years we had been discussing with Trevor Duckworth of Straightliners a 'Scooter Only' event.

And after a trip to the Max Speed Festival in Germany by a couple of our riders, and seeing just how big a scooter only event could be we approached Trevor again, and discussions became more promising.

We got the go ahead from Trevor, and the date 2nd October 2011 was set.

Mau Spencer (Classic Scooterist Editor), Iggy Granger (VFM), Darreyl Ward (100mph founder member) and myself made up the team of main organisers, and with support and help from the rest of the 100mphscooter.com members and Straightliners the Original 100mphscooter.com Scooter Shootout went ahead.

A massive 850+ people through the gate, and a very respectable 125 riders taking part on the drag strip, the event was considered an overwhelming success.

The event was considered an overwhelming success and discussions towards a weekend event in 2012 began immediately.

With support from the likes of BSRA, LCGB, VFM, Scooter Center Koln etc. the 2012 Scooter Shootout promised to be a massive unique event, of likes which hadn't been seen in the UK for many years, if ever.

Unfortunately, 100mphscooter.com were unable to meet demands to sponsor the 2012 event, and we were dropped. Further events did take place supported by UK tuning shops, but have since ceased.
